At Health Screen Inc., we are a private corporation who has taken on the ambitious task of developing and bringing to market a device that can ultimately detect cancer at an early stage. Our vision was founded and funded by Alfred Saam from Germany along with Dr Elmar Prenner, Dr Kirat Singh and various other scientists and students who could see the value in such a device.
In order to protect our idea, and control its progress through to delivery at reasonable prices, it became evident we needed to protect our technology. This was done, in part, by forming a company providing the University of Calgary and scientists, among others, shares in exchange for rights in intellectual property. To protect our rights we needed to file for a patent. Of course, further money was needed for this step and we were able to continued product development, thanks in part to our early investors.
We are also funded through various Government grants, where applications and awards are ongoing. Additional funds raised by donations allow the direction and decisions of the company, and this project, to remain in the hands of it's founding scientists. We believe this level of control will give us the best chance of delivering a low cost test. Financial assistance through donations allows progress to be made while still maintaining direct control of our objectives.
